The declaration that COVID-19 is a pandemic by Tedros Adhanom, the Director-General for the World Health Organization, sent anxiety and panic waves to the whole world. States needed to respond to the great pressure to secure lives and ensure that the right to the highest attainable standard of health is realized. In addition to the above pressure, states also needed to ensure that fundamental rights and freedoms are respected during the pandemic. Kenya was not left out in this catastrophe and in a bid to curb the spread of the disease it took various measures such as imposing the dusk to dawn curfew.
